The Client
Jimmons Ag Services is a specialised provider of agricultural services with a focus on rural fencing, noxious weed management, and farm operations. Operating full-time as a contractor for the past year and a half, Jimmons Ag Services has built a solid reputation in the Mildura region. Although the primary focus is on local projects, the company is flexible and willing to undertake work beyond the immediate area. Joel has relied on Southern Wire for his fencing needs since the beginning of his contracting career.
The Project
Lower Murray Water (LMW), based in Mildura, is leading the Sunraysia Water Efficiency Project (SWEP), an extensive transformation effort aimed at upgrading and replacing outdated water infrastructure across the irrigation districts of Mildura, Red Cliffs, and Merbein. This major initiative, funded by the Australian Government, is set to enhance the condition of the channels and improve water delivery efficiency. These works will increase the efficiency of water delivery for Lower Murray Water customers, remove redundant assets, extend the lifespan of irrigation infrastructure, and support the agricultural productivity of the region.
The Solution
The SWEP came with predefined specifications in terms of fencing requirements. To meet this criteria, Joel from Jimmons Ag Services evaluated material options from multiple suppliers. In the end Southern Wire was chosen based on the company’s flexibility and ability to provide materials that met the project’s specifications. This decision was pivotal in ensuring that the project’s requirements were fully met and satisfied.
The Result
The project is currently in progress and fast approaching completion. Spanning approximately two months, the project has involved installing around 4.5 kilometers of fencing. As the project nears its final stages, the enhancements will significantly improve the previous infrastructure, extend the lifespan of the resources and ensure the efforts and upgrades made to the channel are protected. The successful execution of this project will contribute to the long-term sustainability and effectiveness of the water management system in the area.
